Dear Visitor to Our Website:
On behalf of the members of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, let me personally thank you and welcome you to your visit on our website. We have been anxiously waiting just for you and we pray that our services to God’s kingdom here on earth will encourage you to visit and hopefully become a part of our family. We are a close knit, loving family that was born in 1871.
It was then felt that there was an urgent call for a Christian congregation to provide for the total needs of a newly freed group of Americans. Providence became a spiritual source of strength contributing to not only the need to learn more about the love and salvation of Jesus Christ, but to provide a place to meet people’s daily requirements (i.e. food, shelter, clothing, health, education, and employment). Those were recognized services more than a century ago and they continue to constitute the ‘very core’ of Providence’s ministries today.
At Providence Missionary Baptist Church, we believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its power to change lives. Our efforts, to be a beacon of light in the inter-faith community of Atlanta, have been exceedingly positive. Over the years, Providence has regularly worshipped with numerous diverse faith communities. We are concerned and committed to enhancing, not only the spiritual well-being of our family members, but also other concerns which contribute to their total being.
As you review our Vision Statement and the various programs we provide, you may discover that there is a ministry, which you feel strongly about, and we do not offer it. We seriously encourage you to come and together let us implement that ministry.
After you have seen, who we are and what we do, I encourage you to call me, or a member of our staff, and ask any question, which may be unanswered in your mind. We will schedule a meeting and we can get to know each other as family members.
The Providence Missionary Baptist Church family, with all that we have, in my estimation, is missing one essential element to complete our mission—THAT IS YOU!!!
You are cordially invited to come, worship, and become actively involved in serving the least, the lost, the left behind, and the left out. See you soon.
Respectfully,
Servant / Leader Dr. Gerald L. Durley
